Speech therapy

When a patient sees a speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the first time, he or she will receive a comprehensive evaluation. A plan of care will be developed based on problem areas identified. Treatment focuses on maximizing communication, cognitive functioning, and swallowing. SLPs provide evaluation and treatment for people with neurologic conditions such as:

  • Stroke.
  • Traumatic brain injury.
  • Parkinson's disease.
  • Multiple sclerosis.
  • Vocal cord growths.
  • Developmental delays.

A physician's order is required for speech therapy. Speech therapy services are provided by Pennsylvania licensed SLPs.
