Skilled nursing & rehabilitation
The skilled nursing and rehabilitation unit is here for patients that require long-term or short-term rehabilitation for a medical condition, injury or surgical recovery. Additional services provided include IV therapy, wound care, trach care, respite and hospice services.
Residents enjoy the activities room, where an ongoing schedule of events designed to promote socialization, entertainment, relaxation and creative talent supports the physical and mental well-being of the residents.
The department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by an interdisciplinary team that includes:
- An activity director.
- A charge nurse for each shift.
- A dietician.
- A director of nursing.
- Nursing assistants.
- A nursing home administrator.
- Registered nurses (RNs).
- A restorative nurse.
- Licensed practical nurses (LPNs).
- Certified therapists for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
- A social worker.
- A wound care nurse.
- Hospitality aides.
Primary care physicians and other health care providers such as podiatrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons or other specialists are at UPMC Cole to deliver safe, high-quality care to residents.
The efficient and convenient access to all of UPMC Cole's departments and services reduces the need to transport and disrupt residents or their family members. In cases where urgent or emergency care is needed, UPMC Cole's on-site emergency department and physician network saves precious time.
